For State Senate
Matthew Houde lives in Plainfield, and currently serves as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from Sullivan District 1. He serves on the House Commerce Committee.
A graduate of Hanover High School and Dartmouth College, Matthew is the son of Charlotte Houde Quimby, who also once represented the people of Sullivan District 1 in the New Hampshire House. The youngest of six children, Matthew has several nieces and nephews in the Lebanon and Plainfield school districts. A graduate of the University of Connecticut Law School, Matthew has practiced law both in Connecticut and New Hampshire. He currently serves as Associate Director of Career Services at Vermont Law School.
Raised in a tradition of full participation in community life, Matthew believes public service can take many forms, from coaching little league to debating issues at town meeting. Matthew has been active with Habitat for Humanity and as a member of the Board of the Centering Healthcare Institute. Working with the New Hampshire Pro Bono Referral System’s DOVE Project, Matthew has been an advocate for victims of domestic violence. Matthew also served as the administrative director for an international health care initiative in Lusaka, Zambia.
Matthew is running for the Senate because he believes the combination of his background, his community relationships, his experience as an advocate, and his commitment to being a strong voice for people can make a significant positive impact on our quality of life.
